A striking fusion of beauty and the macabre, this handcrafted butterfly candle combines sculpted wings, blooming roses, and a central skull into a powerful symbol of transformation. Designed to be both visually dramatic and deeply symbolic, the butterfly wings hold two hemp wicks, creating a mesmerizing dual-flame effect when lit. Hand-poured in small batches using a soy wax blend with a small amount of food-grade paraffin for stability and durability.

Each candle is individually poured and finished by hand using colored wax, making every piece unique. Candles pictured are some examples of my work. I employ artistic license with highlights and blends, but you do choose the main accent color.

The butterfly symbolizes growth, evolution, and emergence. The skull reminds us of impermanence, truth, and the lessons left behind. Together they represent the continual cycle of shedding, changing, and becoming something new.
Lore
What draws me to this design is the way it holds two seemingly opposite truths at once.
The butterfly is often seen as a symbol of transformation, carrying the energy of growth, emergence, and new beginnings. The skull represents endings, mortality, and the wisdom gathered through experience. Though they appear to stand in contrast, neither can exist without the other.
Every transformation asks something of us. To grow, something must be released. To begin again, something must come to an end. The roses woven throughout the design serve as a reminder that beauty can be found in both the arrival and the departure.
For me, this piece honors the moments of becoming that follow periods of change. The seasons that ask us to let go of what no longer fits, trust the unknown, and emerge carrying the wisdom of what came before.
